Four days until Family Guy returns. It will be easier to watch if you have a television set.
The deadline for the things that weren't finished by the first deadline is Thursday.
Or maybe Friday.
Speaking of work, today I created a PowerPoint presentation that uses this this image of a pack rat.
My sister Ann is in Madison for a conference. I picked her up from the Madison Concourse Hotel and had her over for lentil soup. She's the second person I've talked to in the last month who said they were not familiar with lentil soup.
Here is the recipe:
16 oz lentils - remove any weed seeds then put in stock pot
2-3 quarts of liquid such as broth or pasta sauce - add to pot
Cook on medium heat or a little lower.
Garlic, onions - add if desired
2 tablespoons Italian or other seasonings - add
Simmer until lentils are soft. Add additional liquid as desired.
28 oz of canned black beans - add
28 oz of canned diced tomatoes - add
Cook until everything is hot and bubbly
16 oz frozen peas - add
Heat until peas are cooked.
Serve with cheese, of course.
Adjust, substitute or add ingredients such as chopped spinach. You can also make it Mexican style by incorporating spicy seasonings, salsa and/or hot peppers.
Freeze leftovers.
Today I found out that my non-Wisconsin sister will be in Madison for a conference next week.

After a couple days off the furnace is back on.
The birds are still respecting the plastic bags.
The past three days birds spent the morning perching on my side mirrors and whitening my car. I believe they enjoy looking at their reflections in the windows so their behavior is understandable.
After trying parking in a different spot and folding in my mirrors, last night I covered them with plastic grocery bags. That worked!
This morning at approximately 2:10 I was awakened by what felt like a mouse crawling across the back of my right hand.
I set two traps and went back to bed.
Later in the day I found this family under one of my shirts. I was able to catch the mother because she was slowed down by carrying a pup in her mouth (as in the photo) and dragging two pups that were holding on to her.
The traps are still set.
This was heard on the radio after yesterday's fire: a burning ban is in effect for Dane county.
The sunny, dry weather is very good for lunch outside.
LATE UPDATE: There's not actually a burning ban. Initial reports were exaggerated.
Today was my longest day at work at Epic. Tomorrow I'll be back early for a bit of pre-deadline wrap-up. Thanks, deadline!
This evening I spent two hours talking about real estate with a real estate agent , a mortgage broker and a loan officer. They all are very friendly.
One of my neighbors reported the geese to the Humane Society. An officer visited this morning. She said that the geese are probably domesticated. If caught, they could be adopted but catching them would not be easy.
I was almost late for work today because of these birds. Can you identify them?
